Cash Money Records Launches $50 Million USD Lawsuit Against TIDAL for Releasing 'The Free Weezy Album'

Lil’ Wayne recently dropped his The Free Weezy Album exclusively via music streaming service TIDAL on July 4, much to the delight of his fans who had been waiting since 2013 for a full project. However Cash Money Records CEO Birdman wasn’t too happy about this, claiming that the label owned the right to all of Weezy's music since he’s technically still under contract. The label stated TIDAL’s actions were, “a desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service,” but since the reviews of the album weren't overwhelmingly good, the chances of this exclusive release substantially affecting the sales numbers are unlikely. Weezy has since released the project through other services like Spotify as well. This is just the latest episode in the ongoing Birdman vs. Lil’ Wayne saga which doesn't seem to be coming to an end anytime soon.
